Individual therapy in Oxford

Individual therapy is time that belongs entirely to you: a confidential space to say what you haven't been able to say elsewhere, and to understand why you feel and react the way you do. Sessions take place in my room in Jericho, North Oxford, or online by video.

What people bring to therapy

Some people arrive with a clear problem. Others just know that something isn't right. Both are good reasons to come. Over the years I have worked with:

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Depression and low mood

  • Obsessive thinking and OCD

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Trauma

  • Low self-esteem and shame

  • Loneliness

  • Anger

  • Drink, drugs and gambling

  • Eating difficulties

  • Sleep problems

  • Sexuality and gender identity

  • Life changes and feeling stuck

How we work together

A first meeting

We talk about what has brought you, what you hope will change, and whether we feel right working together. There's no obligation to continue.

Short or longer term

A few focused sessions can give clarity on a single issue. Longer-term work goes deeper into the patterns behind it. We decide together, and review as we go.

Regular sessions

Sessions last 50 minutes, weekly at a regular time, in Jericho or by video call.

Thinking less, feeling more

Alongside talking, I often use Heart and Mind, the model I developed to help clients step out of constant thinking and into what they feel. Through the breath and attention to the body, many people find a steadier, kinder relationship with themselves.

Questions about individual therapy

What's the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

The two overlap. Counselling often focuses on a current difficulty; psychotherapy tends to look more deeply at long-standing patterns. I offer both, and we'll find the right fit for you.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you bring. Some people come for a handful of sessions, others for a year or more. You can stop at any point.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. Trust is central to therapy. I'll explain the few professional limits to confidentiality at our first meeting.
